The city approved a liquor license for WOW Café and Wingery this week, nearly a year after the restaurant first opened.

WOW, located on the top floor of Marvin Center in the Hippodrome, specializes in wings and grilled food. The restaurant applied for a liquor license last summer, and the application was approved in early January. Student Association President Nicole Capp's office issued a news release Friday.

"It's great news for students of age and another example of Marvin Center dining continuing to improve," said Capp, a junior, in an e-mail.

Administrators said this fall they would try to implement table-service when they received a liquor license. Currently, patrons must stand in line to order and pick up their food.

"Once the liquor license is in place, the potential for the addition of full-table service will be revisited," said Nancy Haaga, managing director of Campus Support Services, this September.

The University already holds a license to serve beer, wine and liquor at Marvin Center, but was forced to amend the existing license to accommodate WOW.
